Training and development
We can offer you...
An induction programme and comprehensive training which includes:
Making the most of what can’t be sold: half day session showing how non-saleable items can be used to enhance the display of other items or used in window dressing.
Know your labels: half day session featuring around 10 or 12 top end labels with examples of genuine and fake products and how to spot the difference. A chance for all volunteers to see garments and books they may not come across in their own shop.
Recognising vintage: half day session in how to maximise the potential of items that may be interpreted as out of date but actually have a high resell value. Covers clothing and handbags.
Antiques roadshow: hosted by a guest trainer, volunteers are asked to bring along an item from their own shop for valuation and discussion. Basic information on how to recognise items of value, china marks, how to tell an original from a print as well as how to care for and clean antiques.
All dressed up: will cover expected trends of the season and how to interpret these with second hand, donated goods. A chance for volunteers to work together to create an attractive and high fashion window display.
The training courses are run in different stores enabling volunteers to visit other shop locations.
