Your room

Most of our inpatient accommodation is in single rooms with an en suite shower and toilet. All rooms are spacious and light and have access to a balcony or terrace overlooking Trinity’s beautifully landscaped gardens.

Each floor has 11 single rooms and a three-bedded room for people who would like the company of other patients.

Furnishings

Your room will have an electronically adjustable bed with a selection of mattress types for your comfort. We use duvets but you can have blankets if you prefer. You have a bedside chair, bedside cabinet and an over-bed table that tilts so you can read more easily. There is plenty of wardrobe space so you can bring whatever clothes you would like. There are also another three chairs and a table in your room for you or your visitors to use.

Balconies and terraces

Each room has either a balcony or a terrace – both are large enough for you to have your bed out there if you wish. Each balcony and terrace has a table and two chairs and can be lit in the evenings. There is an external blind on the balconies and terraces for privacy or shade. You can operate the blind from inside your room and it can be fully or partially lowered.

Internal blinds and doors

Each room has internal blinds on the wall leading to the main corridor. Many patients have said that they don’t like to feel enclosed or shut off and these blinds can be kept open if you would like to have some company or want to be able to see staff. If you would prefer privacy, the blinds can be closed. You can operate them from anywhere in the room by a remote control handset. Similarly, your can have your room door open or closed.

Lighting

You have full control over your lighting from your bed or chair. Lights can be dimmed and there is a small night light if you don’t want complete darkness. This light can also be operated by a nurse from outside your room so they can check how you are at night without having to disturb you. Each room also has a bedside reading light.

Oxygen

We have piped oxygen in each room for use in bed or in a chair. If you want to get out and about, we also have portable oxygen cylinders.

Shaver points

There are shaver points in each room.

Refrigerator

All rooms have a small refrigerator to keep your drinks cool although we would ask you not to keep food in them.

Nurse call system

All rooms have a nurse call system for you to attract attention. The nurse call handset can be used anywhere in your room and we also have portable handsets for use outside your room. The handsets are easy to use and will be fully explained to you and your visitors by the inpatient nurses.

Assisted bathrooms

In addition to your own en suite shower room, we also have two assisted bathrooms – one on each floor – for people who would prefer a bath or need help with bathing. The baths are fully automatic and have a gentle whirlpool to help relaxation.
