Taking a leap for Trinity

Posted on: 19 Jan 2012

A team at the Wandsworth Job Centre decided to challenge themselves by jumping out of a plane to raise money for Trinity and have raised over £3,500.

Wandsworth Job Centre have been supporting Trinity since 2010 through a variety of fundraising initiatives such as dress down days and team lunches at their office.  We met with them after their first couple of events to discuss other ways they can support, and they loved the idea of a skydive.

In October at team of five challenged themselves by jumping out of a plane to raise money for Trinity and so far raised over £3,500 to support the vital care provided by Trinity.

"What a wonderful day from the moment we all rose in the morning the excitement was in the air the anticipation was immense and we all knew today was the day of our jump.

As I arrived I noticed the plane we would be jumping from and my toes started to tingle with excitement. I sat patiently in the waiting area for my turn and when my name was called the adrenalin started to pump.

On the plane the nerves started to kick in and I began to shake next thing I knew we had arrived at 10,000 feet and it was time to jump, my trainer positioned us to the edge of the plane the wind rushed up and away we went the feeling of the free fall had me shouting for joy. My trainer pulled the rip cord the parachute opened and we began gliding to the ground all I can say is "WOW" what a feeling being able to see for miles around its so hard to describe but I knew this was close to the best feeling I have ever had, and to have done it for such a good cause as the Trinity Hospice made it even more of a pleasure." Andre Ofomi, Communications Lead, Wandsworth Job Centre.
