Capital NUNS Calendar – Now Only £5
SOUTH LONDON NUNS GET NAKED TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CHARITY
Eighteen members of Capital NUNS – London’s leading netball club, based in Southfields – have been stripping off over the past few months to pose, against iconic London backdrops and landmarks, for a series of classic and beautifully composed nude photographic shots by renowned ‘people’ photographer, Wolf Marloh. Twelve of the resulting photographs are being used to produce a cheeky but tasteful calendar for 2009 which will be sold, from the end of October, to raise funds for SW London’s Trinity Hospice.
Each of the photographs features everyday London settings (such as Big Ben, a London Underground carriage and a black taxi) and, as with the original Calendar Girls calendar, is carefully arranged and composed to resemble glamorous film stills whilst ensuring a degree of modesty.
Now costing just £5 (+P&P), the Naked NUNS Calendar are now available to buy online or from a number of outlets including Trinity Hospice and selected South London shops at the end of October.
Sarah Jenkins, one of the netballers behind the Naked NUNS Calendar explained the Capital NUNS’ commitment: ‘The majority of our membership live and work in South London and the City – so Trinity Hospice is a genuine ‘local’ charity for us. We have all been affected by terminal illness in our families, and have experienced at first-hand the life-affirming and positive nature of hospices, so we see fundraising on Trinity’s behalf as a very tangible way of giving something back. It also gave us a very good reason to prepare for our dreaded ‘close ups’ and get our kit off!’
This is the second time that Trinity Hospice has benefited from a Capital NUNS fundraising event; in July 2005 the club raised almost £30,000 when it smashed the world record for the Longest Ever Netball Match.
