"I get a real sense of satisfaction and self-worth from volunteering - the feeling that I've done something for somebody"
Volunteers give their time and energy in many different ways to help with the running of the hospice. Whether it is working alongside health and social care professionals, in the offices, shops or garden, their support is invaluable to us and ultimately contributes to enhancing the experiences of patients and families.
All volunteers attend an induction day and are given the opportunity to shadow a more experienced volunteer or undertake relevant training before they start. All volunteers have a line manager to whom they can go to for support and advice. Ongoing training for the role is provided on a one-to-one basis, and at various seminars and workshops throughout the year. Volunteers working in emotionally demanding roles also attend regular group supervision meetings to share experiences in dealing with demanding or stressful situations.
Trinity's volunteers give over 32,000 hours of their time to the hospice each year.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help out in many of our charity shops.
