Open Garden Day 2010
Wednesday, July 14th, 2010Trinity’s Open Garden Day took place on a sunny Sunday afternoon in our award-winning gardens.
It was the first time that Trinity had opened its gardens for over four years, during the building of the inpatient centre, so we really wanted to invite the whole community to come and see the newly landscaped gardens and learn about the work we do here. We were overwhelmed by the community’s response with nearly 1,000 guests coming to enjoy the gardens and join in the fun.
There was an Alice in Wonderland theme throughout the garden, including children’s entertainers dressed as characters from the book, from Alice herself to The Mad Hatter, The White Rabbit even made an appearance! There was also a giant tea pot shaped bouncy castle and a string quartet who played tunes from the original movie score.
The main highlight for the children had to be the face painter who had queues of children awaiting her amazing artistic talents.
Not only did we manage to raise a greater awareness of Trinity and the work we do within our local community and we also managed to raise £4,315 in the process.
Congratulations to Sharon Morrish from Middlesex who won the Crabtree and Evelyn Hamper in the prize draw.
A big thank you to our sponsors Fidelity International who sponsored the event and to all the Volunteers and staff who gave up their free time to help out. Fidelity International’s Corporate Citizenship Executive, Toula Saltouros, commented:
“Fidelity International is delighted to have sponsored the Trinity Hospice Open Garden Day, particularly as the event was such a great success. As a local company, we are committed to supporting the communities close to our offices, and we hope that our contribution towards this event will help raise much needed funds.”
