Recent achievements
At Trinity we are continuously upgrading our facilities and improving our services so that we can better meet the needs of our patients and families and work in an efficient and flexible way to make the most of our resources. These are some of our recent achievements:
Mulberry Place
In 2011 the ground floor of our Georgian building was completely refurbished to create a welcoming, modern base for our wide range of flexible, non-residential services. Staffed by our multi-professional team, supported by volunteers, Mulberry Place provides information and support, therapies and rehabilitation, and specialist nursing and medical care.
At the heart of all this activity is the Mulberry Café, a natural meeting place where patients, families, friends and carers are all welcome.
Trinity at Home service
In spring 2011 we ran a successful trial of this new service to give patients and families the support and reassurance they need to continue care at home when a person’s needs become more complex and demanding – during the last days of life, for example, or if a person’s illness suddenly worsens. The service was exceptionally well received by patients, families and carers and was fully established later in 2011.
Inpatient Centre
Trinity’s purpose-built Inpatient Centre opened in 2009 and is the finest specialist end of life care facility in the UK.
We knew from research that most of our patients prefer single rooms with en suite bathrooms to multiple occupancy wards. Overnight facilities for families and special friends were also important. While patients wanted the privacy of single rooms, they also asked for areas where they could socialise. Everyone wanted to be able to enjoy Trinity’s beautiful gardens.
An ambitious fundraising campaign raised £10 million to respond to these needs by building a new, two storey, 28-bed centre.
