Accessibility
Trinity Hospice believes everyone should be able to access its website. We have designed our website to standards that aim to make it easy for you to get the information you need. If you have difficulty accessing any information on our site we would like to hear from you: enquiries@trinityhospice.org.uk
We have developed this site to be A and AA compliant with W3C Web Content Accessibility guidelines 1.0, where possible.
Accessibility features on the website
Here are some of the features we have built into the website to help you navigate and some of the ways you can change your browser screen to get a clearer view of the site:
Navigating this website
This site has been designed for ease of use. The main navigation includes all the main sections of the website and runs across the top of each page. Clicking on any of these items will take you to a specific section of the website, where the secondary navigation is displayed underneath the primary navigation. Choosing a section will also reveal any further content pages within a section. This style of navigation is consistent throughout the site.
Images
All images used on the site include 'alt' tags descriptive text alternatives. This allows users to see what the image is meant to convey even if it doesn't load, or if images have been switched off or if using a screen reader to read the web page rather than view.
Video
Where possible we will include a text transcript of video clips on the website.
Audio
Where possible we will include a text transcript of audio clips on the website, e.g. podcasts.
Forms
We aim to make all forms accessible. Field names on each form are explicitly associated with their text boxes, radio buttons and checkboxes.
Links
Some browsers, for example JAWS, Lynx and Opera can extract a list of links on a page and let you browse the list separately. We have written links to make sense out of context.
Change the way this site looks
Changing the text sizes
You may want to change the text size in this website so the fonts display larger. This can either be done using the font size feature in the top right of every page of the site or by using the browser menu. The font size feature allows you to increase the font by 15% or 30% and is done by clicking on the appropriate sized 'T'.
Font and background colours
On some browsers you can change the font and background colours, using the ‘options’ or ‘preferences’ menu in your browser.
Use a plain layout
Some browsers let you strip a web page of all layout and styling by turning off the website's style sheets.
Contact us
If you are unable to access a particular page on the website, please contact us at enquiries@trinityhospice.org.uk to tell us the problem you encountered. We cannot reply to all emails but will act on feedback as quickly as we can.
