Light Up a Life 2009 – Thank you

Monday, December 21st, 2009

On Thursday 10th December our annual Light Up a Life Remembrance evening saw Trinity’s suppporters gather together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who are no longer with us, and give thanks for the care and support that Trinity provides.

Large crowds gathered at Trinity to hear the St. Mary’s RC choir sing Silent Night and to watch the Christmas tree lights switched by one of the choir. Following this, a candlelit procession moved over to the Holy Trinity Church for a special remembrance service with guests including actors Timothy West and Prunella Scales, and BBC journalist Huw Edwards. The Pegasus and St Mary’s RC choirs entertained the congregation with musical pieces and after the service Brasserie James, Davy & Co. and Iceland provided refreshments and mince pies for the congregation to enjoy.

A huge thank you to everybody who made this lovely evening possible including:

- Trinity Hospice Staff and Volunteers

- Holy Trinity Parochial Church Council with special thanks to Caroline Clarke

- St Mary’s RC Primary School, Clapham

- Huw Edwards

Linda and Lisa’s Festive Dine at Mine

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Hosts2

Two of Trinity’s supporters Linda and Lisa recently hosted a festive celebration for their family and friends. Linda hosts this event every year and decided this year she would do it with Lisa in support of Trinity Hospice. Usually her guests would bring a bottle of wine, flowers or a gift of some kind, but this year they made a donation to the hospice instead.

However, Linda and Lisa’s fundraising did not stop there. Over the course of a couple of months the pair had been accumulating a chocolate hamper to be the first prize in a raffle. Other prizes included the free cook book and coffee (supplied to all of our Dine at Mine hosts) and tins of biscuits. The generosity of their family and friends resulted in £80 being raised from the raffle and a ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’ competition organised by Linda’s niece. Which all contributed to a grand total of £420 being raised!

The celebration also included a prize for the most festively dressed lady.

In Linda’s own words

“Everyone had an amazing evening. We drank, ate and danced the night away…..I’m still enjoying the memories of the evening”

We would like to give a big thank you to Linda, Lisa and all of their family and friends and hope that the memories stay with them for many years to come.

We hope that Lisa and Linda have inspired you to host a Dine at Mine event and sparked you creativity to make your Dine at Mine every bit as special as theirs.

Over the last 20 years the Covent Garden Tenants Association have been supporting Trinity Hospice. Every year Trinity, along with The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust, has been a lucky beneficiary of their annual ball. Last month Trinity accepted a cheque for over £15,000 from Tenants Association towards the ongoing work of our nurses in the community.

The Covent Garden Tenants Association have raised over £100,000 for Trinity and in acknowledgement of this invaluable support we were delighted to recognise them as a Gold Business Partner.

We are looking forward to working more closely with the committee as we move into a new decade of their support.
